I became the Shaman's Apprentice during the dry season of 1998, guided there by a vision. My unwavering belief that I would find him let me to to learn from this wise, old indigenous shaman and also become the Apprentice of the powerful Ayahuasca Medicine.
During my time in the Amazon I was painfully tested to ensure my dedication to the Shamanic path, explored my deepest subconscious, hunted, fished and experienced every spectrum of emotion, from the bliss of connection with The One to the deep fear of loss and rejection. I faced my worst nightmares, lost my identity, and fell in love.
I also learnt the ancient art of shamanic healing, understood the power of healing with energy, began to see and communicate with the spirit world that constantly surrounds us, and learnt how to commune with Nature and the plant spirits.
At the end of the dry season the Shaman told me the Apprenticeship was over. It was time for me to return to the West. On my last day we had a huge argument and I left without saying goodbye. My destiny was in the West and the Shaman had to do something to stop me escaping to the safety of the Amazon when things got tough.
For three years I kept my experiences in the Amazon a secret, hidden in a crystal box in my heart, which even I couldn't access. In 2001 I took a writing course and began to slowly unlock the box and release the words until I reached the Amazon. I froze, put my pen away and locked up the box again.
Then in 2003 the Shaman came to me in a vision and told me that it was time to finish the book and start spreading the messages of Ayahuasca and the Amazon. Terrified of unlocking my Pandora's box that was buried deep within me and facing my destiny, I begged and pleaded to be let off, but the shaman told me my journey would not be completed until the book was written and published.
After finishing the manuscript and researching the different publishing options I knew in my heart that to maintain my integrity and the messages from the Ayahuasca I had to publish it myself. Despite this being a harder and more arduous path, I trusted my intuition and set my intention. After countless obstacles, miracles and magic 'The Shaman's Last Apprentice' was printed in September 2004 on the September Full Moon.
I have seen, through the Ayahuasca vision journeys, what is happening on the planet and where our possible choices can lead us. It is time for us all to take personal responsibility and follow our true destinies.
